The Beloved of God: John & the Samaritan Woman

Incredibly excited and honored to get to share the last two singles that just came out May 20, 2022, from my upcoming album, Cloud of Witnesses (coming in June)!

Leaning In is a song I wrote in 2020 after an Instagram Live prayer set I did for my church, Upperroom Frisco, in which the Lord gave me revelation about John the disciple (known as John the Beloved). He showed me how John leaned his head on the Lord’s heart at the Last Supper and was able to ask Him questions no one else could. He heard the secrets of God in that moment, but was also the one who Jesus chose to reveal Himself to years later in John’s old age! This is where we get the entire book of Revelation! Jesus shared His secrets with John, His Beloved!

That being said, some of what John heard were things he did not want to hear. Things that were overwhelming and fear-inducing. However, he knew the Lord’s heart enough to put himself at peace in His Presence. He leaned on HIM, and leaned NOT on his own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). And we can too. 🙂

Woman at the Well is a song I sang the chorus to spontaneously while worshiping alone in my living room in 2018. It just flowed out of my spirit without thinking. It took time to reflect on the Samaritan Woman’s story and wonder how she must have felt to meet Jesus the first time and see Him accept and not condemn her. But then I realized that even though my story (and yours) may not be the exact same as hers, it actually is. Every one of us are looking for love. Every one of us are longing for acceptance and understanding. We can look from person to person and not be satisfied, but ultimately, He is the LORD and the ONLY one we have been looking for!!! His is the first voice we ever heard – speaking us into existence, and He now wants to give us eyes to see Him, because –

To see Him is to know Him. And to know Him is to love Him. This is my testimony. 🙂
